Our guide and driver arrived on time, which I am always thankful for. This tour was a challenge physically. The uphill portion of the hike was a challenge, but didn't last long, downhill was a breeze. I could tell the view at the top of Chiang Mai would be beautiful, but for us, it was cloudy, so couldn't see much. I know that's out of the tour guide's control so certainly not part of my rating. The food stop in the small village was quaint, but no one explained anything about the village. That would have added some culture to the trip. Having read several reviews before booking, I was pretty sure the bike ride down the mountain would be interesting, and it certainly was! The road is a mixture of dirt, rocks, and broken concrete. If you have experience off road biking, like one of the others on the tour, you might consider it easy. For me it was a challenge. I took my time, and made it down safely with a few scrapes. I consider my physical ability to be average. My husband, very physically fit, ran the LA marathon last year fit, also took his time riding down and he found it to be a challenge - no off road biking experience either. I will say we felt really good to finish! We weren't hungry at the last food stop so opted for beverages and a rest instead. Was sore the next day and a nice Thai Massage did the trick to loosen us up! What could make the tour better would be to incorporate a bit more culture, or maybe a few stops along the road at viewpoints on the drive up to explain what is in the park. As is, this tour is all about being physical.

It was well planned; great experience - and wonderful guides who kept us safe ... but the ride down was scary

Exciting experience overall. Consider taking a motion-sickness pill before the truck ride up the mountain winding roads, goes well past the Doi Suthep temple - otherwise you may feel queasy at the start. The hike is along the ridge at the top of the mountain - not much climbing some descending. The bike ride was bumpy, as one might expect, so you'll need the protective gear they provide I slid out and got minor scratches. Brief stop for noodles at a Hmong village. Lunch is nice: a thai dish at a lake/reservoir that Thai families use for swimming and recreation.

My girlfriend and I went on this hike/bike and chose the beginner trail. I'm 5'9" and athletic, though not an avid hiker and have never mountain biked. She's 5'6" and athletic, though not an avid hiker and never mountain biked has road biked.

The hike was great - some challenging stretches, but easier than expected based on the prior reviews. Beginning-to-intermediate seems appropriate.

The bike was definitely a challenge. We were assured beforehand that beginners can do it, and I personally made it down the hill with some focus and cautious driving. My girlfriend made it 2/3 of the way before having an accident and ended up with a broken wrist. The guide was excellent and helpful and arranged a truck to take her to the bottom of the mountain, and eventually to a local hospital note that the insurance coverage only applies for a bill more than 200 USD but we were surprised to have our bill at only 80.

All things considered, it was a great trip physical, great scenery, good guides. A beginner CAN do the bike - drive cautiously and don't have to much pride to stumble off and walk a bit at the slipperier spots that they do stop and caution you against. But be prepared for a challenge. I can't speak for an intermediate or expert, but it probably is easy for them.

Despite our accident, I would recommend. It's Mountain Biking, so it comes with some inherent risk. Be safe and enjoy.

Intense hike and bike. Recommend it to those who are physically able to hike up hill long term.
