While the region is famous for its wine, it’s also well known for its incredible cultural sites, including that of Ancient Nemea, a must-see. A vast archaeological site, it includes not only the Sanctuary of Zeus but also the stadium where the Nemean Games took place, which honored the ancient Greek god. The stadium has recently been discovered. It is notable for its well-preserved vaulted entrance tunnel, dated to about 320 BC, with ancient graffiti on the walls. Legend has it that it was also the place where Hercules slew the Nemean lion.

1) For Private Tours: Traveler pickup/ drop off is offered to your hotel/ apartment in Athens center or Piraeus Port, at the arranged time of your tour departure or return. We suggest that the tour starts at 9:00 am or earlier in summer time
If for any reason this is not convenient, you can adjust the time according to your needs.

For Customized/ sharing tours: If the hotel /apartment is not accessible (e.g narrowness, pedestrian area) we will advise a nearby meeting point for picking you up. You will receive an email from us with the exact pick up time 48 hours prior departure.
Please notice that pick up time for customized tours is prior 30 minutes before tour departure.

2) Traveler pickup/ drop off is offered from/to your hotel/ apartment in Nafplio. In that option, the cost change accordingly to lower, as the wineries are closer to Nafplio.

  • The driver/ tour leader is not a licensed archaeologist guide to accompany you on your walk to Nemea archaeological site or museum.
  • Peloponnese Nemea is an extension of 2 prefectures of Peloponnese, Corinth and Argolida, and is a well-known wine-producing region. The starting point of one’s visit to Nemea should be the stunning Temple of Zeus and the unique Stadium. The opportunity to taste some of the PDO (Protected Destination of Origin) wines shouldn’t be missed and exploration around the most developed grape-producing area of Greece is certainly worthwhile. In Nemea we find the grape variety Agiorgitiko, which is so valuable and significant, that gives the best PDO wine of Nemea.
  • We will visit 3 wineries. You have options of a private & flexible tour or a customized/ sharing tour. However we only request to have in mind the agreement hours. But if you like to extend it, please make a fair arrangement with your driver/ tour leader.
