Stop At: Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple, 61 Sri Jinaratana Road, Colombo Sri Lanka

Stretched on land and water, Gangaramaya temple is one of the most beautiful temples in Sri Lanka. Situated within the Colombo city limits, the temple can take you to its own serene world in the busy city. One specialty of the temple is that one part of the temple is built on the water of a lake whereas the other part is built on the ground away from the lake. The two sections are divided with a distance of 200 meters. Both sections of the Gangaramaya temple have their own reasons to attract visitors. The section that is built on the Beira Lake, which is known as the Seema Malakaya gives visitors a marvellous experience by taking them into the water on a wooden platform which bridges the temple to the ground. The other part of the temple is situated away from the lake. This part of the temple which could be referred to as Gangaramaya Temple accommodates constructions that depict the magnificent combination of different architectures. The temple is known for its unique architecture which is a fine blend of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese architecture. The buildings of the temple exhibit this blend of architecture and the vivid wooden carvings of them stand out in attention.

The National Museum of Sri Lanka, also most commonly known as the Sri Lanka National Museum is considered to be the largest Museum in Sri Lanka. It is maintained by its own dedicated Department of National Museum in Sri Lanka. It is home to many valuable and historically important objects such as the throne and the crown of the Kandyan Monarchs. The Colombo Museum was established in 1st January 1877. It was founded by the British Governor of Ceylon at the time; Sir William Gregory.

Stop At: Galle Face Green, Galle Road, Colombo Sri Lanka

Located in the heart of the business capital of of the country; Colombo, the Galle Face Green in Sri Lanka is a five hectare ocean-side urban park, which stretches for a half kilometre along the coast. It is a magnificent place to witness a marvelous sun set over western coast of Sri lanka. The area was initially put to plan and laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, although the original Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. The Galle Face Green in Sri Lanka was initially used for many recreational activities. These include activities such as horse racing and golf. It was also used as an area to play cricket, polo, football tennis and rugby.

Stop At: Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo Sri Lanka

Once widely known as Victoria Park, Viharamahadevi Park is Colombo’s oldest and largest public park. Situated within an older section of the city it lies close to historical monuments such as the colonial-era Town Hall building, the National Museum, and the Colombo Public Library. Having received extensive renovations recently, it is now an essential location where the city’s residents relax and enjoy themselves. The park was built, by Charles Henry de Soysa during the British rule of Sri Lanka, on land donated to the Colombo city; and was named "Victoria Park" after Queen Victoria.

Stop At: Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, Colombo Sri Lanka

Kelaniya Temple built on the banks of the Kelaniya River is one of the most sacred sites of Sri Lanka. It is believed Buddha together with 500 Arahats (Supremely enlightened beings) visited Kelaniya on the Wesek day of the Buddhist Era 2531 and expounding of the Dhamma, the Buddhist doctrine to the inhabitants of the island.
Buddha’s timely visit to the island resulted in quelling an imminent war between two kings named Chulodara and Mahodara over a jewel–encrusted throne. Buddha having preached the doctrine on the disputed throne offered to him ensued lasting peace between the two kings. The great stupa built upon the site enshrining the throne was since then called Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara.
