Totonicapán near Quetzaltenango is unknown to most of the visitors to Guatemala . On arrival in Toto (as commonly known ) in front of the catholic church a local guide will explain a bit about the town while driving through , until arriving at one of the 48 “ cantones “ . We will walk for about 30 minutes up to a small hill to “ SIETE VENTANAS “ (seven windows) where a Mayan priest is waiting for us , to celebrate one of the days of the Mayan calendar . After this cultural experience we visit a local CERAMIC workshop and go on .. for a nice climb (45 minutes one way) to a viewpoint called “ EL MIRADOR DE SAN MIGUEL “
We are finishing the half day itinerary with a meal in a local family , please advise if you are vegetarian or not !
