Yasser made the day enjoyable although most of it is spent in the car driving to and from Alexandria. We saw all we wanted to see.
Great tour. The guide, Ayman, contacted me in advance to confirm pickup details. He was extremely knowledgeable and eager to share the history of Egypt and the places we visited in Alexandria. Our driver Ahmed was probably one of the most polite people I have ever met. The trip consisted of 4 attractions, entrance fees and lunch were included. I recommend this trip to female solo travellers as the way the tour is organised makes you feel very safe and always looked after.
This tour is a long drive but these guys are the salt of the earth. They accept you with warmth, real egyptian charm. I'll be back for sure.
Tour guide Islam was very knowledgeable. This trip is out of our expectations. Driver is familiar with all the short cuts. We did not waste any time on the road.
Traveling to Alexandria from Cairo makes for a long day. 3 hours each way across a pretty barren desert. When you get to Alexandria you find a large, congested and sometimes dirty port town with some significant historical attractions. From the catacomb burial grounds to the excavated Roman Forum your guide will walk you through some of Alexandria's ancient city. A stop at the Qaitbay Citadel teaches you about Alexadria's important maritime history. Here you will find the location which was once an ancient wonder of the world, the Alexandria Lighthouse. Your guide will show you the exact spot. After a nice lunch by the sea, its off to one last stop and a part of Alexandria's modern history the massive Alexandria Library. Opened in 2002 this library follows in the footsteps of the ancient Alexandria which was once one of the largest in the world. Doing Alexandria with a guide and driver is the way to go if its only for one day. There are too many moving parts to include the drive which seems to me to cry out for a tour. Most all tour prices in Egypt are reasonable. Thanks to my guide Mohamed Mekawy for a great day in one of Egypt's most significant places.
