Stop At: Kambly Erlebnis, Mühlestrasse 8, 3555 Trubschachen, Switzerland

Cross over into Trubschachen in the Upper Emmental Valley, which is noted for its lush green landscapes, clear streams and snow-capped mountains. Stop at the Kambly Experience, home to Switzerland’s premier biscuit producer. Discover how the sweet treats are made and taste several different biscuit varieties.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Bern, Bern, Bern Mittelland District, Canton of Bern

Continue on to Bern, Switzerland’s medieval capital, which features a collection of pretty red-roofed buildings and cobbled streets. Wander around the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Old Town with your guide, admiring picturesque local landmarks including the 328-foot (100-meter) spire of the Münster, Bern’s Cathedral. Take a look at the parliament building, which overlooks the River Aare. After the tour, spend some free time in Bern, during which you can eat lunch (own expense) or go shopping for souvenirs.

Stop At: Emmentaler Schaukäserei, Schaukäsereistrasse 6, 3416 Affoltern im Emmental, Switzerland

Then it’s back to the bus for another drive into the heart of the Emmental, a patchwork of green pastures dotted with an occasional farmhouse. Visit an Emmental show dairy to learn more about the region’s famous cheese. Peer into the production hall and discover how Emmentaler AOP is made. Taste some of deliciously nutty dairy, before departing for Zurich, where your tour concludes.

Duration: 1 hour

The guide will bring you back to the same place, where you have joined the tour in the morning.

It was a great day! Brigitte is a very nice guide and she did her best to help us with whatever questions we had, she offered us a lot of useful information and she has a very professional style! I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking this trip and not only!

Peter was our driver and guide on this private day tour. It was a great day filled with history and a guided walking tour in Town before having free time on our own. Would highly recommend this tour!

Monica, our guide, is very knowledgeable about the regions we passed on the tour, including their history. I learned a lot about Switzerland in such a short time. Now , about the tour package: It's great seeing the country side scenery coupled with Monica's narratives. Old Town Bern looked impressive from the bridge with the rooftops and steeples and river. But the arcades at ground level don't look old at all. Whoever rebuilt these arcades did not fully restore the quaint charm of old architecture. But this is why I'm giving this tour only 2 stars: The Kambly biscuit tour was a disappointment. A little animatronics and video and that was it. A long trip for only a 10-minute video is SO NOT WORTH IT. We didn't get to see any inside-the-factory action at all. Another thing, I just wish the Emmental (cheese) and Kambly tours were more accessible and sensitive to those with special needs. I didn't see any ramp at all. Again, with the animatronics and videos telling the story of Emmental cheese and Kambly biscuits -- there were no close captions on the video or story posters with the animatronics. Forget this tour if you're deaf, wheelchair bound or pushing a heavy stroller with a sleeping kid inside.
